HEI-Blue partner distinguised with Fellow membership award 2025 at 13th WIOMSA Scientific Conference

From last 28th September to 3rd October, the 13th WIOMSA Scientific Conference took place in Mombasa, Kenya, bringing together hundreds of marine and coastal science professionals from across the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region. Organised by the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association, WIOMSA, the event is recognized as the largest regional platform for sharing cutting-edge research, fostering collaborations, and advancing sustainable marine resource management.
Throughout the conference, participants discussed key topics such as marine conservation, the blue economy, climate resilience, and the UN Ocean Decade initiatives, highlighting global and regional priorities for ocean sustainability.
According to WIOMSA, the organization remains deeply committed to celebrating the scientific excellence of its members. Its official awards program recognizes individuals for their remarkable achievements in marine and coastal conservation, encourages emerging scientists, and promotes a spirit of excellence within the scientific community.
Within this framework, the HEI-Blue project is pleased to announce that Prof. Lantoasinoro Ranivoarivelo, from the University of Toliara, Madagascar, has been distinguished with the WIOMSA Fellow Membership Award 2025. This recognition honors her outstanding scholarship and leadership in advancing marine science across the Western Indian Ocean region.
